When to Book an Eye Exam
Determining whether you need an eye exam depends on several factors: your age, vision history, change in health or medications, as well as the length of time that’s passed since your last examination. To ensure a lifetime of healthy vision, we’ve provided a rough guide that you can follow:
Infants and toddlers
(6 months to 3 years)
Get their first eye exam between the ages of six months and three years.
School-age children
(3 to 19 years)
Get an exam once a year.
Adults
(20 to 64 years)
Visit an optometrist every one to two years.
Senior adults
(65 years and up)
Visit an optometrist every year.

Did You Know?
We can’t transplant eyeballs yet because the optic nerve is too delicate to reconstruct.
Every one of us has a small blind spot in the back of our retina where the optic nerve attaches.
However, our eyes work synchronously to fill out that blind spot.
